The Graduates – Jordan Marshall-King

first_imgIn the sixth edition of The Graduates, austouch.com.au caught up with former New South Wales Combined High Schools (NSWCHS) player, Jordan Marshall-King, who played for the Sydney Scorpions at the 2010 NYC.  After being a part of the Sydney Scorpions side that won the 2010 X-Blades National Touch League in March, Jordan Marshall-King was back in the Scorpions colours at the National Youth Championships, having one last shot at the title. He was rewarded for his contribution to the team, being named the Most Valuable Player for the Scorpions 18’s Boys side. Marshall-King was part of the NSWCHS side that came third at the 2009 NYC, and enjoyed being back in the Scorpions team for his last year. “It was pretty good, all of the boys back together again, we had a lot of fun,” he said. Marshall-King and his Scorpions teammates didn’t have a chance to play against NSWCHS at the tournament due to being in different pools, but he says it would have been fun to play against his old side. “It would have been good, because I’m good mates with the coach and a few of the boys.”“It was a good experience last year, I had a lot of mates in that team which made it a lot of fun.”Marshall says that he has plenty of good memories of playing at the NYC, and will miss playing at the event. “It’s good fun coming up and playing with all of the boys, that’s one thing that I’m going to miss and seeing mates from different states that you’ve met through Touch, it’s going to be a big loss.”The event also marked the final chance for players in the Australian Youth Squads to be selected for the 2011 Youth Trans Tasman which will be played in Canberra next January. Marshall-King is in the Australian Under 20’s Boys squad, but says his biggest focus at the NYC was to play well for the Scorpions.“I was just focussing on my game, I’m here to play for my mates and my team, if I make the Aussie team, that’s a bonus.”last_img
